Villars will host the ski-mountaineering competitions as well as ski cross and snowboard cross on the 10th, 13th and 14th of January 2020 and from the 19th to the 21st of January 2020.
Villars is a family friendly mountain resort and due to its south-facing orientation and unique location in the Swiss Vaud Alps, has an unobstructed and stunning view.
Thanks to its extensive sport infrastructure, Villars offers a wide range of both indoor and outdoor activities throughout the year, stretching from the plains to the Glacier 3000 at Les Diablerets, and the renovation of the swimming pool and construction of a Spa & Wellness centre in Villars has further enhanced the facilities. In winter, the 125kms Villars-Gryon-Les Diablerets interlinked ski area extends from 1,200 to 3,000 metres and provides hiking trails for all levels in a protected and naturally beautiful setting.
For the Lausanne 2020 Youth Olympic Games, Villars will host the ski-mountaineering competitions – which will be a first for the Youth Winter Olympic Games programme – as well as ski cross and snowboard cross.
Villars en Jeux!
Villars en Jeux! will offer a multitude of sport discovery activities to visitors and will be modelled on the sport disciplines present in Villars during the Youth Olympic Games. Local culture and heritage will be presented through concerts around the competition areas that will thrill both the spectators and athletes, and the renown traditional Christmas market will be extended until the end of the Games in January.
Access for people with disabilities
Note: Due to limited accessibility of the mountain venue, people with reduced mobility are encouraged to attend the “Villars en Jeux” festival. The competition can be seen from the platform at Bretaye railway station or from the restaurant 1808.
