Preparing a radio broadcast, directing it and then broadcasting it: requires a number of skills before it actually goes on air! Under the aegis of Denis Badan, a professor from the Haute Ecole Pédagogique du canton de Vaud and the manager of RadioBus, a project for the radio in the schools of the HEP Vaud, in partnership with the General Direction of Obligatory Education of the canton of Vaud, students from the region, discovered the behind the scenes of the radio and gave life to ... radio YOG Lausanne 2020!
RadioBus, is a school radio : a channel for broadcasting radio broadcasts recorded in class. It is also a mobile radio studio, completely equipped for producing and transmitting broadcasts from a school, a village, an alpine pasture or… a competition site. “The students tried out all the posts, from from technical posts to animation through journalism and the research of information. The idea is to use motivation towards the radio to favour learning”, explains Professor Denis Badan, who established the RadioBus in 2002.
Before the Lausanne 2020 Games, various events are covered. The budding journalists were present at the Swiss School Sport Day last May, where they interviewed IOC President Thomas Bach, Head of the Department for Sports of the Canton of Vaud Nicolas Imhof and the athletes Sarah Atcho, Anne-Sophie Thilo and Alain Mfompa. More recently, on October 3, 2018, they interviewed the Ambassador of Lausanne 2020 and international athlete Augustin Maillefer, as well as Viviane Morey (Eracom), Ralph Stöckli (Swiss Olympic), Patrice Schaub (City of Lausanne) and Mathieu Fleury (HeMu), who told them about their involvement in Lausanne 2020. "Some 60 students are already working around the radio station YOG Lausanne 2020. And during the Games, we want to cover the event 24/7 with correspondents in all the competition venues”, concludes Denis Badan.
