A delegation from the Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) as well as the IOC’s media and photographic operations visited sites hosting Lausanne 2020 events. Their goal was to discover the sites and determine possible image opportunities for the Youth Olympic Games in January 2020.
In St. Moritz, the delegates admired the natural bobsleigh track, unique in the world, as well as the frozen lake that will host the speed skating competitions in 2020 … a worldwide first in a natural environment! In Leysin, Villars and Diablerets, a radiant sun gave them an exceptional view of the Alps. And in Vallée de Joux and Tuffes, they appreciated the Jura’s Nordic landscape. In Champéry, the curlers’ paradise, the delegates discovered the famous Palladium, in the heart of a typical Valais village. They ended their trip in the future skating complex Malley, in Lausanne, where construction will be ending in a few months. It is home to a new Ice center open to athletes and to the general population!
