More than 200 residents of Leysin met yesterday evening in order to discuss the future development of the ski-station. The focus of the meeting was on sport and education.
Councillor Jean-Marc Udriot, representing the municipality of Leysin, spoke in front of a packed room and left the audience impressed with a presentation on the station’s long term vision. Antoine Pellaud, Director of the Centres Sportifs of Leysin and Site Manager for Lausanne 2020, presented an update on the plans for the games and the new snow park at Chaux de Mont. Finally, Frédéric Koehn, President of Ski Romand, showed plans for the Big Air Bag which will be installed in the village and which will complement the freestyle park that will be open all year round from spring 2019 onwards.
A delighted Antoine Pellaud summed up the evening, ‘This winter is nearly here. Next winter will mark the 2020 Youth Olympics. It will be a major event for this station and we can already feel the excitement growing!’
Will Leysin soon become a freestyle benchmark? It certainly looks like it!
