Lausanne higher education establishments to produce Olympic cauldron, medal trays and podiums

Two Lausanne higher education establishments the Ecole cantonale d'art de Lausanne (ECAL) art school and the Ecole de la Construction construction school, have come together to create the Olympic Cauldron, medal trays and podiums for Lausanne 2020.

The partnership officially kicked off on 28 September with 30 ECAL students visiting the Ecole de la construction. The ECAL students will now start working on the design of the Olympic cauldron, the podiums and the medal trays. The apprentices at the Ecole de la construction will then manufacture the Olympic cauldron.

“We are extremely proud to be working with a host of educational establishments who are contributing to the success of Lausanne 2020. The start of these three new projects is an important step for the Youth Olympics”, explained Stefany Chatelain-Cardenas, who is coordinating the youth outreach projects that form part of Lausanne 2020.

Detecting talent, creating synergies and engaging the younger generation forms part of the DNA of Lausanne 2020.
