On Thursday, March 22nd, more than 1200 participants (pupils, collaborators, volunteers and guests) took part in a special day of over 30 sports activities called Hiverdeil in the station of Les Diablerets. Under the banner of respect, friendship and excellence, the three Olympic values, 500 Verdeil students (foundation which welcomes and educates more than 800 children, pupils and young people in difficult situations in the Canton of Vaud) pushed their limits in discovering classic and innovative sports. They were helped and supported by more than 100 young middle school students from the secondary school of Epalinges. This collaboration is part of various projects carried out by the Directorate General for Compulsory Education for the Lausanne 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games.
"The Hiverdeil day crystallizes one of our dreams for these Games: it is a wonderful opportunity to promote moments of exchange. The sporting, educational, and cultural legacy is undeniable," concludes Ian Logan, Director General of Lausanne 2020.
