This Wednesday, October 4th, 2017, no fewer than 100 persons involved in the organization of the Lausanne 2020 Youth Olympic Games met for the third time to be informed of the progress of the project.
The participants were welcomed at the Flon Cinema Pathé to follow the "show" set up by the young dynamic team directed by its CEO, Ian Logan. On the occasion of this meeting, the Organizing Committee took the opportunity to recall the IOC's historic decisions of July 2017: more young athletes, perfect gender equality and more innovative content for the sports program. These innovations will be integrated for the first time by Lausanne 2020. The result: more quality and more diversity at the same cost.
The floor was then given to the venue coodinators who presented the different ways of activation around the Games. Indeed, each venue seizes the opportunity in its own way and ensures that the organization of this major event brings a long-term sporting, cultural and educational legacy to the region and its population.
In the second part of the meeting, speakers gave an overview of the progress made in the areas of sustainability, transport, youth engagement and security.
After the official part, the members of the Operational Committee continued exchanging around some drinks.
Ian Logan concluded: "I would like to thank all the participants present today for their enthusiasm and all the work accomplished so far. We are very fortunate to be able to count on our Operational Committee and it is a real privilege to be able to pilot an event whose vocation is to innovate by drawing on the unique assets of our region."
