Les Diablerets visiting France
On 18th November, a delegation of Les Diablerets travelled to neighbouring France, in Prémanon, to the site known as Les Tuffes, which will be the venue for the Ski Jumping, Biathlon and Nordic Combined events throughout Lausanne 2020. This visit enabled the Swiss delegation to learn more about how their French counterparts are preparing for the hosting of the Youth Olympic Games.
The Centre National de Ski Nordique et de Moyenne Montagne (The National Nordic and Medium Mountain Ski Centre), the French national training centre for France's teams, is a highly-regarded centre, full of interesting information for the Les Diablerets. The Vaud resort, in addition to hosting Olympic events in 2020, is also poised to become a new training centre for young skiers from Romandy, under the impetus of Swiss Ski, the Swiss national federation.
This type of exchange is part of Lausanne 2020's desire to become a real platform for encouraging long-term partnerships that facilitate sporting development. The fact that this exchange exists between two neighbouring countries gives it a special ‘Olympic’ meaning.
