A class of 22 students from the primary and secondary school in Epalinges, north of Lausanne, went to St. Moritz from 13 to 18 January. A polysportive language exchange in the colors of Lausanne 2020, which allowed students to visit the legendary “Olympia Bob Run” bobsleigh track, to observe the training of a round of the Junior Luge and Skeleton World Cup, to skate on the frozen St. Moritz lake where the speed skating and skiing events will take place at Corviglia. The children also went to the St. Moritz school where they were able to attend courses in Romansh, the fourth national language of Switzerland, and visit the Engadine Museum.
“This language exchange is part of one of the many activities supported by the DGEO as a part of the mobilization of Vaud students around the future Youth Olympic Games. This week was a great opportunity for our students to concretely experience the linguistic plurality of Switzerland, to discover the exceptional site of St-Moritz and the Olympic disciplines that will take place there, and to cross our country with the Glacier Express, train that will transport future athletes. We are looking forward to welcoming our guests next year to the Lausanne and Leysin sites! “, concludes Pierre-Alain Mellina, Director of the establishment of schools of Epalinges.
