For two months, students from various schools in Corsier-sur-Vevey, Corseaux, Chardonne, Jongny, Blonay, la Tour-de-Peilz, St-Légier and Vevey participated in ski competitions, at the Pleiades, instead of their traditional ski days. Around 1200 students from 3rd to 6th grade (7-10 years old) competed against each other in the hope of reaching the finals! Some 200 students participated and tried to win a medal on March 9th, 2019. The graphics for the competition were made by an apprentice at the Ecole des métiers in Lausanne.
“160 downhill skiers and 25 cross-country skiers, accompanied by parents, gathered for the finals. It was a wonderful day, celebrating youth, sports and the Olympic spirit!” commented Patrick Mellina, Dean of the school and the event’s co-organizer.
These competitions are part of a range of projects promoted by the Canton of Vaud’s Department of Physical Education and Sport (SEPS) as well as Lausanne 2020.
