In 2013, the Lausanne resident Ben Wendling (8 years old at the time) won the competition “Champions of Play”. It was a pass that opened for him the doors to the Winter Olympic Games in Sotchi. At the Games, he was able to meet the Swiss ice-skater Stéphane Lambiel, IOC president Thomas Bach as well as Swiss skier Didier Defago. When he visited the Swiss House, he received a chapka, the famous Russian fur cap worn solely by the Swiss Olympic athletes… An unforgettable trip for Ben and his dad, who accompanied him.
Six years later, the Lausanne resident, a fervent sports fan will live his second edition of the Games, as he welcomes them in his hometown. He has therefore decided to share his Olympic enthusiasm by presenting Lausanne 2020 to 25 students form the 9 VP class at Bergières’ College. “We are so lucky to have the Games here. We’re glad to be able to follow the competitions close to home!” he declared. What a wonderful commitment to sports!
