Olympian and Swiss record holder Sarah Atcho joins Lausanne 2020
The Lausanne 2020 Organising Committee is delighted to announce that Sarah Atcho, Olympian and Swiss record holder in the 4x100m athletics relay, has joined the Lausanne 2020 team as an ambassador. Starting today, she now joins the journey and will contribute to bringing the Olympic spirit to life.
Lausanne 2020 welcomes Romandie's fastest sprinter, Sarah Atcho, who joins the 13 other ambassadors. Despite her young age, Sarah has already built a brilliant career in athletics. She has competed in the 2015 World Championships in Beijing as part of the 4 × 100 metres relay, the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and at the 2017 World Championships in London. In the same year (2017), she was crowned vice-champion at the U23 European Athletics Championships. In 2018, her team set a new Swiss record for the 4x100m relay while competing at Athletissima in Lausanne – and this year she will once again take the stage at this great event which will take place on July 5th.
In her role as an ambassador, she will get involved alongside Lausanne 2020 on a voluntary basis, sharing her knowledge and experience and inspiring the younger generation of athletes. She will advise on the organisation of the event, participate in sports initiations, raise awareness among young people in classes and participate in various conferences.
Sarah Atcho: "Participating in the Youth Olympic Games event is an incredible opportunity. There is no better springboard for the athletic career of young talents. What makes Lausanne 2020 so special is that this is a Games for young people by young people. It is a true pleasure to be part of the Lausanne 2020 adventure and I look forward to welcoming the young athletes of the world in "my" city, the Olympic Capital."
