6th of June was a day placed under the sign of sport and Olympism for the 600 students of Les Ormonts-Leysin, Primary and Secondary school situated in the Alpes vaudoises. Seven months from the kick-off of the next Winter Youth Olympic Games, the traditional and annual school celebration took the colours of Lausanne 2020 and made it big: curling initiation, speed skating, ski jump, bobsleigh and biathlon as well as the discovery of the Olympic disciplines work places held by the students throughout the day. Let’s not forget the fruitful meetings with former students from the school who could potentially qualify for Lausanne 2020: Ambre Arena (biathlon), Thibault Métraux (speed skating, Thibe Deseyn (mountaineering ski) et Fantin Cionpi (freestyle ski). At the end of the day, the classes, representing countries, marched in the village recalling the Olympic parade of the athletes.
Radiobus, the school radio of the Canton de Vaud, covered the event live from morning to evening! Discover the podcasts to (re)live the event here. Students from this school, extremely involved, had already made reports on the Leysin Freestyle Open, the European Women Ski Cup in Diablerets et les “Jeux divers” in Leysin. They can be discovered at this link.
